Cardano Most Oversold RSI in History But Traders are Putting a 2.5x Long Bet
Crypto Insight Summary: Cardano (ADA) is trading at $0.1669, falling below $0.20 for the first time since 2021 and losing 39% over the past month. The decline followed founder Charles Hoskinson's June 3 announcement on X that he was "taking a break," which triggered a 10% single-day drop, along with his earlier warning of a "wave of failures" among Cardano-based DeFi projects, citing macroeconomic pressure and governance gridlock. Analytics platform TapTools had already collapsed prior to the warning. Cardano's governance delegates (DReps) voted down a 7.8 million ADA treasury proposal to fund the 2026 Singapore Summit, forcing its cancellation, while reports emerged that key figures at the Cardano Foundation were suspended during the same period. Despite these issues, ADA posted a 1.96% gain on June 8. The weekly RSI has reached its most extreme oversold reading in Cardano's history, a level that has only appeared twice before, ahead of the 2019 and 2022 recoveries, both of which preceded sustained price increases. Institutional and professional traders on Binance are positioning with a long/short ratio above 2.5, meaning they hold more than two and a half times as many bets on price rises. Retail accounts remain slightly net short at 0.74. Crypto Insight Analysis: Direction: Bullish ADA Impact: Minor Impact Horizon: Mid-term (1-8 weeks) Reasoning: Extreme oversold RSI and institutional long bets suggest potential recovery, but governance issues may limit upside.
