OKX Adds Magnificent 7 Stocks, Commodities to European X-Perps Lineup
Crypto Insight Summary: OKX has expanded its European X-Perps platform with 13 new markets, giving retail traders in the European Economic Area 24/7 perpetual futures access to all seven Magnificent 7 stocks, gold, silver, two oil benchmarks, and the SPY and QQQ index trackers, with leverage of up to 10x. The new contracts cover Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla, and a SpaceX-linked X-Perp is scheduled for June 12 following the company's IPO. Erald Ghoos, CEO of OKX Europe, said the expansion addresses a structural gap for European traders who have lacked round-the-clock, single-platform access to these assets. X-Perps are five-year-expiry futures that use a funding rate mechanism to track spot prices, blending features of perpetual swaps and fixed-maturity contracts, and were originally launched in Europe in April under the company's MiFID II authorization covering crypto assets. OKX reported that X-Perps trading volume has surged more than 447% since May 1, and noted the disparity between U.S. and European index products, citing SPY's roughly $700 billion in assets versus about $20 billion for the largest comparable European ETF. The expansion comes as Coinbase launched perpetual equity index futures for U.S. customers, intensifying competition in tokenized traditional-asset derivatives. OKX Europe Markets Ltd is authorized by the Malta Financial Services Authority under MiFID II, and the platform is positioned to capture retail brokerage flows ahead of the EU's MiCA transition period closing on July 1, 2026, after which exchanges without proper licenses will be barred from offering crypto services across the EEA.
