Chainalysis [said](https://www.chainalysis.com/blog/chainalysis-and-the-korean-national-police-agency-knpa-sign-mou-to-strengthen-virtual-asset-investigation-capabilities/) on Wednesday that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), aimed at building investigative capability within South Korea’s law enforcement. “While North Korean-driven attacks are understandably a national security focus, this partnership isn’t designed around a single threat. It’s fundamentally about building institutional capability,” Kwon told Cointelegraph. ![Image 10](https://s3-images.ctmedia.io/media/content/pasted-image-1402.png) _Signing ceremony of the MoU between Chainalysis and the Korean National Police Agency. Research from CrowdStrike found that North Korea-affiliated hackers were responsible for [$2 billion in crypto losses](https://cointelegraph.com/news/losses-dprk-hacks-2025-rose-51-year-over-year) in 2025, up 51% from the year before. Chainalysis has [aided](https://www.chainalysis.com/blog/seoul-police-crack-international-hacking-ring-september-2025/) South Korean investigators for years. In September, police in Seoul dismantled an international hacking organization that had stolen approximately $30 million.
